Deviation Actions
So I just got back from seeing this big budget action film:
Now before I give my complete and honest thoughts on this movie, I'm going to give you a bit of an insight to my experience with the live action Transformers films. In 2007, I was invited by one of my neighbors to see the first Transformers film and I liked it so much I saw it twice. With Megatron dead and the Allspark destroyed, I thought that was the end of it.
Then 2009 came and I saw the trailer for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I was surprised as I wasn't aware the first film was popular enough to get a sequel. Since I liked the first one, I ended up seeing it with one of my sisters, one of my cousins and my Grandmother. At first, I was loving it, then as reality set in, I came to the conclusion that it wasn't very good but it did have its moments.
Because not many people liked Transformers 2, I thought there would be no sequel but I was proven wrong yet again in 2011, when Transformers: Dark of the Moon came out. When I saw it, I was already liking it way more than Revenge of the Fallen. The final act alone was what made the film worth the price of admission. At the time, I listened to reviews to hear others thoughts and to my surprise, people were giving the film crappy reviews and saying it was complete and utter garbage. This caused me to rethink why I liked the films a lot and when I would step in and defend them, many insults would ensue but I didn't care on what I was called.
In 2014, Transformers: Age of Extinction was released and this time, I was hesitant on seeing the film as I knew for a fact that it would be hated by the public. In the end, my Dad took me and my brother to see it and, once again to my surprise, I ended up liking it.
As for waiting for the next one, I was ready this time. The trailers immediately caught my interest with Anthony Hopkins narrating, some gigantic planetoid looking like it was going to destroy the moon and Optimus acting like the bad guy, saying, "Forgive me," before the camera cut away from what looked like a killing blow. In keeping with my little tradition, I saw the film, not expecting much. My only major expectation was that Grimlock, my favorite transformer, not get killed as, to my knowledge, he has not died in any continuity.
I only have this to say (and I may lose some respect and watchers for this): This is my second favorite Transformers film BAR NONE. It expands the lore, it has better writing, better action, better music, better effects and some of the coolest one liners I've heard in an action film. I liked the Shia Lebauf cameo, John Turtoro's appearance and I liked Cogman, voiced by Jim Carter. This movie actually made my heart race in some scenes and just like Dark of the Moon, the final act was worth the price of admission. Oh and *SPOILER ALERT* Grimlock lives.
I've got it! I think the main reason why I like the Transformers movies is because I know what I get into when I see one. These are NOT Oscar worthy films in the slightest but like my Thoughts on the Power Rangers Journal, they are pure dumb fun. Now Michael Bay is not a good director, but he does have some skill when directing and when he sets out to make an action movie, he can deliver. All in all, Transformers 5 is a fun movie with a lot of incredible moments. If you are at least willing to try it, do not let the media tell you otherwise. You are your own critic. Plus I think we all need a little mindlessness from time to time.
6.5/10 (seems fair)
To properly close this out, I will give a list of my favorite Transformers films from weakest to strongest.

I'm Back
Hey everyone, it's me again. Sorry I have not been posting for a while. A lot came up and I could not post anything. Just to let you all know, I am back and while my writers block is still pretty bad, my art ideas are not. It has been a while, but I think it is time to get out my Gaomon again to experiment digitally. First off, I hope you all had a great New Years and are having a wonderful Valentine's Day. As many of you know, the GxK trailer dropped today, and I cannot tell you how hyped I am for it. It looks much better than trailer 1 and it looks like Legendary is keeping Shimo obscured for now but man, the look on Kong's face for that reveal. That is worthy of a chef's kiss. While he may not be as physically imposing as Ghidorah, Skar King is formidable, using his bone whip with deadly precision. Plus, I think it is a neat idea to make this character a rival to Kong since he really doesn't have many well known enemies. Think about it, he's battled dinosaurs like the T-Rex
Kaiju Media
Ever since I was little, I have always had this fascination for dinosaurs and monsters. Books, movies, games, you name it, whenever a dinosaur was present on the cover, I gave it my undivided attention. Made things even better when I discovered Godzilla; not only was he a dinosaur, but a king as well so I followed every bit of Godzilla media I could find, developing a passion for the series. Then of course once I was in school (middle school), people would always make fun of me for liking Godzilla, always saying that the films were objectively bad simply due to the time period. Sometimes it got so bad, arguments would break out or I would isolate myself. Reminds me of that one panel from the comic books: Still to this day, Godzilla remains my all-time favorite character in media. His series has shown that he is extremely versatile, which is why the Godzilla series has lasted as long as it has; there is a Godzilla film for everyone. Ever since the MonsterVerse began back in 2014, the
Gamera Rebirth: My Thoughts
Been a while since I posted a journal. How about something I have been waiting a long time for. As many of you know, Gamera is among my favorite Kaiju ever. Since his re-characterization in the 90's, he has proven to keep up with and even surpass Godzilla at times. It seems history has repeated as Gamera Rebirth is far more entertaining than Godzilla Singular Point. When watching Singular Point, I tried to keep up, but in the end, I was left disappointed. I will admit that the anime did have some fantastic moments, like Godzilla Ultima's first scene with Akira Ifukube's theme blasting proudly. However, while many did seem to enjoy it, as a second season was announced, as well as the anime receiving awards, I am just not excited for season 2. That said, I was initially skeptic of hearing that Gamera was returning in a six-episode anime. So far, I was not convinced as Singular Point disappointed me as well as the Polygon films, though I did reserve judgement when it was announced.
Top 10 Jurassic Moments
In honor of the 30th Anniversary of Jurassic Park, I would like to go over some of my all time favorite moments from my second favorite franchise. As you know, I am a sucker for dinosaurs. I mean, just look at my name. it kind of gives it away. I remember watching the original at just three years old and rather than be scared, I was enthralled, especially when I saw the T-Rex. Thanks to JP, We're back, land Before Time, and Walking with Dinosaurs, I became a fanatic, though, looking at dinosaur media now, I definitely prefer the retro looks but appreciate the science behind making dinosaurs act like real animals (the exact same thing JP did). Just look at how good Prehistoric Planet is. I like to think of it as this generations version of Walking with Dinosaurs. But now, let's take a look at some of the best moments from the series that introduced a generation to the most successful group of animals of all time, from one of the greatest series of all time. 10.
